Today I reached an important Milestone. My blogsite clicked over 40,000 views. Yes I know, small fry to some but for me a
significant milestone indeed.
I started blogging as a side interest back on April 15th
2011 and in response to a friend’s efforts about an ACC incident. I didn’t blog in earnest to start with, but
as time went on, and my interests diversified, I found I had a voice, and one
that was appreciated in some circles.
Still the blog just ticked along view wise for the first two years. I think in that time I amassed a huge readership
of about 4.000 or so. No not big in blog
terms but huge for me. Then in 2013 I
joined Twitter and loved the 140 character format. Short, sharp and direct. But I also found I couldn't expand on those
tweets so started blogging my thoughts and posting them on Twitter (the blog
links that is). Initially it was about
sports mainly, and still is to a certain degree, but I also found I could
express my own views on life, especially concerning how I felt about New
Zealand society.
My viewership exploded!!
Sure sometimes I’d be disheartened about the responses to the blogs, on
Twitter and on the Blogs themselves, but just writing them is cathartic and a
lasting legacy if anyone should go back and explore them.
So stats. Below is a
summary of most popular blogs and the countries that read or view them the most. Some surprising stats here. Good to see my Mental Health blogs get a lot
of attention though.
