They make up 1/5 of the population and when combined with Pacific Islanders, Asian and African immigrants make up well over 1/4 of the population. Yet if you look hard enough, you'll find them in less than 1% of all adverts on mainstream TV.
Pakeha control, Australian Ads, or just plain racism?
Yeah I want one too. But as a pakeha I feel obliged to not get the Tat I want, but the Tat I need. I'm settling for an American Bald Eagle on my back with an Indian Chief, probably Sitting Bull under the eagle. The right arm will be a Ragnarok Norse god depiction, and the left arm, a Celtic Chieftain. Of course at my age I don't have the bod to show off the artwork so for now these are pipe-dreams. Ok yeah, I do like tats and admire the proliferation of them. Throw away ties and toe rings, welcome ME!!
Funny thing happened the other day, me and me brother were talking and we were talking about the number of New Zealanders leaving for Aussie. His reason was in his words, the "browning of New Zealand", apparently a common topic amongst some kiwi's. I felt like telling him to join the exodus if he didn't like the idea. But I also reminded him that before the European came along the Browning of Aotearoa was 100% complete and they might just be working at trying again for that 100% (which we all know is bullshit!!) But I do get the shivers when folks downgrade Maori roles in this country.
