The Early Years of The Internet.

In 1996 my loving family purchased an IBM Aptiva Desktop PC.  It soon got put too many applications, from work, play and social media.  Me and wifey used it quite a bit and we allowed our oldest daughter to use for schoolwork  and a social media platform called ICQ.  Back then all the kids were having lots of fun, or so we thought.

One day (forget when exactly) Number One daughter left the lounge (where we had the Aardvark Home office unit) and I had a quick look at what she was up to.  I was soon angry with the conversation, a guy was being quite suggestive.  When confronted she admitted that something was amiss.  I contacted a few parents of the girls involved, especially one who was a senior Sergeant with the Police.  I asked him if what I intended was kosher and said for sure.

I joined ICQ as Nicola Bumbridge and had a made up Yahoo email account as nics_place (nic short for Nicola)   I started contacting "George"  and passing the time of day. When he started passing suggestive material I upped the ante.  Eventually I got an email out of him and gave all the data to my cop mate.  He was arrested in Christchurch and sent to jail.

I know my girl may have been upset with us for our actions but what would we be if not good parents,
