Manawatu Rowing

The Manawatu Water Venue.

Where and how?? (I am an Ideas Manand don't mind dreaming.  Here is my latest dream.

There is a natural ox bow from Whakarongo to Palmerston North that is about 1600 metres from bend to bend (see map below)  Access would be from Te Matai Road. There will also be facilities such as carparking and lock up storage.

Track Dimensions

1500m long orientate WSW - ENE  to take into account prevailing winds.

150m wide for plenty of area for other venues choice.

10m Deep

Construction

Heavy earth scrapers to scoop out 10metres of dirt and deposit and line the track with stop banks for venue seating. Both ends have Facility Venue buildings for respective boats, etc. storage. and act as prevailing wind breaks.

The bottom of the main lake lined with large boulders and soil to fill gaps and finally rubber matting.

The lake to be fed direct feed from Eastern end of the Awa that is Manawatu.  Once filled will be trickle fed as required.  To balance the lake level a trickle flow will be utilised at the Western End (back into our Awa)  There would be limited impact on the river.

Lake Te Awe Awe will cater for following events: (Lake title up for debate, I see three options
