Openers in New Zealand Cricket 2013 - 2015

Great argument surrounding our test openers.  There have been three opening partnerships since Rutherford came into the team, Peter Fulton/Hamish Rutherford, Latham/Rutherford and Latham McCullum.  I have discounted the final partnership and instead am focusing on the other two we are talking about.

Fulton and Rutherford played in 17 innings together with an average opening partnership of 37.9.

Rutherford scored at an average of 30.5 in those partnerships.  However it is fair to say that as the partnership went on, the lower the totals and not all down to poor scores from Rutherford.

Then there is the burgeoning partnership with Latham.  Fair to say
the partnership scores started out poor, but in recent matches they are climbing, so there is promise.  However the current partnership score average between these two is poor, only 28.6 with Rutherford averaging 18.7.  A good sign these two are starting to get a scoring combination going is their latest partnerships at The Basin averaging 53.

But I guess it should be noted that Latham's better scores have been in partnership with BB McCullum and on foreign soil.  Is it time to move Neesham to 5, Anderson at 6 and BB McCullkum opening in place of Rutherford?
