Announced today is New Zealand First's Energy Policy. In a world first, if in government, New Zealand First will use recycled fuel to offset further drilling for predominantly gas.
Winston Peters outlined his party's policy by saying that there will be more baby boomers living longer and filling rest homes and it is the intention of his legislation to have Gas Emission Collectors in place in all Rest Homes. These collectors will increase the workforce, and the technology (developed in a P House in Rotorua) will be used by getting rest home residents to plug a hose up their arses and fart at will. The gas will then be sent to recycling points (more jobs) where it will be turned into usable methane for the open market.
He says the policy may upset some in the younger generation pondering retirement but as most of his supporters are in the blue rinse brigade (and looking to be helpful in society, instead of being shut away and forgotten) and are keen to Gas away!
Of course, Dr Russell Norman countered that this would mean Fracking is an issue, but Peters countered saying the only nasty chemicals being used are the ones ingested daily orally and could be one of the reasons the older folk fart more.
I'll keep you posted.
