Manawaroa - the new Ward 21.

It is with great joy and happiness to learn Ward 21 is being replaced.  So what do we need?  Here is a small list.

1.  Return the name back to Manawaroa
2.  Friendly and soothing to the ascetic eye (and mind)
3.  A better system for care (gone is the Starship Enterprise  to be replaced with less disturbing office space)

4.  The Office space and HNU (5 beds) to have two way mirrors  (office staff can see out and clients see a mirror. Less than intrusive)
5.  Minimum of  45 Beds on main ward.  I would sooner have more available beds and have them not full than to have 30 beds and folks being turned away.
6.  A covered courtyard for all, and a smaller one for Smokers and including Staff (as at 2016  67% of clients smoked).
7.  Clients in care with art skills be commissioned to do user friendly murals on ALL walls.
8.  Staff be augmented with one extra member on shift to be on call for MH issues at ED.
9.  Existing recreational facilities with a seperate room for music instruments (Drums, Piano, Guitars) and a small Gym room ( Punch Bag, Table Tennis Table and two Treadmills and a rowing machine.)
10  Recreational Quiet Zone - a reading room complete with Library and Jigsaw Puzzles.
